Yorviaa manufactures six sizes. They fall into two families, and the family decides which patterns are available to you before anything else does.

The rule: the module has to close
A herringbone only interlocks if the stone is a whole-number ratio — 2:1 or 3:1. A basketweave only tiles if a whole number of cobbles fills each square. A pinwheel only closes if four rectangles plus one square make an exact module. Choose a size that breaks the ratio and the pattern stops being a pattern: every course needs a cut, and the interlock that made herringbone worth specifying is gone.
This is why we ask for the size and the pattern together. The same pattern in two sizes is two different surfaces, with two different set-outs and two different wastage figures.
Scale to the space
- Small courtyards and paths read better in smaller modules — 4"x4" or 3"x6". A large cobble in a narrow space makes the space look narrower.
- Wide drives and forecourts carry 4"x8" and 4"x12" comfortably, and lay faster per square metre.
- 8"x8" squares suit formal terraces where the joint grid is meant to be read as a grid.
- Blending two sizes — our Regal Fusion — stops a long run falling into a repeat the eye can trace.
Thickness is a separate question
Plan dimensions are about appearance and set-out. Thickness is about load, and is specified per project against the traffic and the bedding type. Tell us what the surface has to carry and we will recommend it with the full build-up.
